Leadership: "E" is for Exposure

Exposure is vital for any leader. If you are not willing to risk failure and take on the big challenges of your leadership area, you will never be successful as a leader. By exposure, I mean to put your neck on the line to advance your organization/company/church. You never put your neck on the line without doing your homework in research and planning. However, you will not have the luxury at all times to have ample time for the proper research to take place. Therefore, you must be willing to be exposed for who you really are as a leader. Your decisions will be based on your values and if you are exposed those values will be on display. Those who agree will follow and those who disagree will go away.

To expose yourself as a leader requires great personal strength and vulnerablity. History tells us those leaders who took huge risks and exposed themselves to great failure and/or great success. Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, most of our country’s Presidents are just a few examples. To the extent that you expose your leadership is equal to the potiental success and/or failure of your leadership. You must expose yourself to opportunities for growth….but there is risk of failure. Let your values be your guide on the extent of your exposure. May your exposure reflect high values and great leadership.
